Itinerary:
Considered within one of the more beautiful circuits of trekking of the world, in Huayhuash still it is possible to perceive the real sense of the adventure in the Peruvian Andes. During these days it is possible to observe several of the mountains that shape this mountain chain and also, from all the route, you will see the dangerous walls that belong to the cordillera which are worldwide known because of their difficult ascent (you will find here the Siula grande west face, 6,344 m. famous after the dramatic survival story the British alpinist Joe Simpson wrote in his book "Touch to the void"). It is also possible to see the Jirishanca (6,094 m. once climbed by Ricardo Cassin in 1964), Rondoy (5,871 m.), once climbed by Walter Bonatti) and Yerupaja Chico (21,765 ft. – 6,634 m.) for Reinhold Messner in 1966. The Yerupaja Mountain is the highest Peruvian mountain after Huascaran and one of the most difficult to climb.

Day 1 .- Huaraz, (3,100 m.) Huallanca (3,500 m.) Matacancha ( 4,120 m.) til this point is possible to go in transport.
Camp.

Day 2. - From Matacancha, we will promote to the first pass Cacananpunta, elevated to 4.700 m. The change of landscapes with respect to other mountain ranges in Peru is always interesting in this place, the clear valleys green dominate all the surroundings. From we will descend there to the Mitucocha lake, 4.150 m. You will see the most emblematic mountains in Huayhuash, the Jirishanca 6,094 m., once climbed by Ricardo Cassin.

Day 3. - Mitucocha lake, second pass, Carhuac, 4.650 m. descend to the Carhuacocha lake, elevated to 4.138 m. an exceptional viewpoint to mountains Savage, Jirishanca, Yerupajá an Silulá ( east faces). This he is one of the privileged places of the circuit. According to many commentaries of the people who are there been, it is this, perhaps the most beautiful place of all the circuit.

Day 4. - Carhuacocha, third pass , Siulá (4,850m.) and descend to the Huayhuash camp . (4300 m.)
7 - 9 hours altogether. This day is most extensive and perhaps from greater effort, but at the same time he is most beautiful of the circuit. We crossed slopes that approach hanging glaciers of the Yerupaja this (6.634 m.) and the Siula grande, 6.344 m. The continuous avalanches make resound calm waters of the lakes located on the feet of these mountains.

Day 5 .- Ascent the fourth step of height, Portachuelo (4,750 m.) To descend to the beautiful, huge lake Viconga (4.407 m.) A few meters away we find the natural thermal baths belonging to the peasant community of Uramaza. Camp with an exceptional swimming pool with hot water at 4600 m. altitude. A whole midway relax ..

Day 6 .- Ascend to the fifth step , Cuyoc Punta (5,000 m.). The view from here is perfect to the Yerupaja, Butcher, Rasac and others. At this point we will be entering into the west side of the ridge. The journey takes about 5 hours until close to the creek Huanac Patay. Camp beside a giant elephant-shaped stone.
The ascent runs through a bridle path that zigzags to reach near the vicinity of the snowy glacier Cuyoc.

At this point follow the normal path of Huayhuash circuit

Day 7 .- Ascend to a high pass "no name" that is located to the right bank of the famous passage "San Antonio". The cross step leads directly into the lake Jurau, where we catch some trout.
The height of this step is unknown of 5,080 m. You may even see a deer in this area.
The views are amazing to the Jurau, Rasac, Siulá Grande mountains.
Jurau bordered Lake and camp in the ravine Cutatambo, near the camp who used Joe Simpson and Simon Yates in 1985 before climbing Siula Grande.

Day 8 .- This day will be the most impressive and demanding the entire route. The mules do not fall within this sector, so you have to portage our things and reach, in 5 hours, Sequya pass, about 5100 m.
As you get higher, the views to the west side of Sarapo, Rasac, Siulá Yerupajá and are truly unique. From anywhere in the Huayhuash hike can see this.
From the same step height, the view to the west face of Siula Grande is incredible.
Descend about 45 m. to the beautiful, wild lake Caramarca (4500 m.) where we will install the camp.

Day 9 .- Day glacial pass. Very early, climb a rock edge to reach the glacier's Rasac an impressive and unique area of the site. Once in the area of snow, we fit our crampons and climb for about an hour and a half until the beautiful Rasac pass (5150 m.) where we have at hand the mountain of the same name and the beginning of a stunning descent to Rasac Lake (4300 m.) where we will make trout fishing.
We will continue down to the lake where they will meet again Jahuacocha our carriers, our base camp and other groups that followed the normal route.

Day 10 .- Rest day for a "Pachamanca" - typical food of the Peruvian andes based on lamb and spices that are cooked underground. This is one of the most impressive of the circuit.
You can visit the glacier of the west Jirishanca.

Day 11. - Descent to Llamac (3.350 m.) From Jahuacocha.
We will take a very fancy way which amounts to a small balcony to almost all of this beautiful mountain range.
Llámac arrive at around 1 pm, from where you return to the city of Huaraz.

This route is offered by NUESTRA MONTAÑA, mainly to innovate in terms of walking tours is concerned. Besides the growing number of people who follow the normal route and the possible installation of a mine also in the usual way.

Level: Difficult

Date recommended: March to October.
